- Work as a member of a research team to identify and answer important
research questions Assist in all aspects of data extraction, analysis and reporting
and create visualizations using new high-impact visual applications to make data
actionable and facilitate decision making for the clients
identify the best means to visually depict intermediate and final data analytics
results, mining new insights and assisting in decision making for solving complex
- Utilize design and data analysis techniques to present data
in visually innovative ways in order to make research results easier to understand,
insightful, and actionable
- Lead the complete lifecycle of visual analytical
applications; from development of mock-ups and storyboards to complete production-ready
- Acquire a strong understanding of research topics and a
thorough knowledge of the data and programming efforts involved
visual standards adapting best practices to RAND research products
other programmers in design techniques
- Track emerging developments in
visualization frameworks and present these to peers
- Candidates MUST have all of the following:
- A strong
passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data
least 3 years of Tableau expertise, including advanced Tableau programming and functionality
include at least 2 years R programming experience
- Excellent UI design
- Experience with database programming in at least one
enterprise database software (e.g., SQL Server,

they can be included in visualizations
The successful candidate
will be a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to solve data analysis
BA/BS in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science,
Engineering, Economics, or related field required; MA/MS preferred.
Minimum 3 years experience.
6 years experience preferred.
U.S. Citizenship may be required for positions requiring a U.S. government
Santa Monica, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, or Boston.
