Limited duration position; not to exceed 3 years
RAND is seeking a highly motivated research assistant to work on a variety of national security projects as members of multi-disciplinary research teams addressing complex policy problems. Projects may include science and technology, military logistics, military technology, military communications, and general national security issues. Research Assistants work with teams of experienced researchers, including software developers, engineers, physicists, policy scientists, and economists. Research Assistants' tasks include data collection, preparation and analysis, support to modeling and simulation, computer programming, literature reviews, preparation of draft documents, and presentations and coordination of work among project team members. Research Assistants may travel with project teams and may have the opportunity to co-author reports and journal articles.
Applicants should have U.S. citizenship and excellent research and analysis skills demonstrated in coursework or work experience; excellent Arabic language skills; solid technical and/or programming skills; familiarity with statistical packages; the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; and the ability to work effectively as a member of multi-disciplinary teams. They must be highly motivated, organized, flexible, and demonstrate a strong commitment to RAND's core values of quality and objectivity.
BA/BS degree preferably in a technical major such as engineering, computer science, economics, physics, math, statistics, or operations research.
