The RAND Corporation is seeking a Digital Production
Lead to help coordinate the development and production of innovative, multi-disciplinary,
digital-research and outreach products. Using his/her knowledge of best practices
in project management and storytelling in digital and multimedia, web and traditional
publishing, this position will be responsible for facilitating cross-departmental
execution of integrated outreach and dissemination packages and products. Working
with both creative and technical teams, the digital lead plays a key role in orchestrating
delivery of traditional and digital assets including feature articles, interactive
research-based tools, infographics, video, and other digital outreach products.
As a pioneering member of a ‘digital first’ publishing team, this position
exercises discretion, attention to detail and independent judgment.
The primary duties include, but are not limited to:
extensively with research stakeholders and creative/technical staff to define and
document vision, scope and requirements for web-based digital media, video and traditional
- Acting as a focal point for all aspects of project
coordination and driving efficient workflow for digital media, web video, digital-storytelling
and traditional publishing products
- Creating and managing comprehensive,
realistic project schedules and plans to measure, manage and report on the delivery
of projects on time and within budget; reviews and evaluates project progress and
recommends specific actions
- Building project teams and identifying stakeholders;
communicating regularly and effectively with stakeholders, technical staff and management
regarding project goals, objectives, deliverables, plans, status and the art of
the possible throughout the project
- Leading teams in the development
and production of digital-first and web-oriented research and outreach projects,
working with web producers, writers, web designers, front-end developers and outreach
and research stakeholders to help define project strategies in a quality- and compliance-focused
and supporting the delivery of project documentation including budgets, schedules,
scopes of work, outlines, storyboards, wireframes, manuscript, designed layout and
final accounting as required by each project
- Working with Digital
Strategy and Web Communications staff to determine project tasks, cost estimates
and schedules for delivering high-quality storytelling in digital media; identifies
potential project risks and approaches for minimizing these
with research stakeholders to define requirements and deliverables based on available
budget, staff resources and timeline
- Managing budget, schedule and project
workflow for digital-media, web, video and traditional publishing projects and other
projects as assigned
- Developing project budgets and schedules; tracking
progress and approvals in digital asset management (DAM) system
editing and proofreading copy and meta-content as needed
of 6 years of experience managing diverse digital media projects including web,
video, and traditional publishing products.
- Expert-level project management
skills and demonstrated knowledge of project management methods and best practices.
- Familiarity with communications
planning and best practices
- Ability to manage diverse project teams including writers,
web producers, editors, web designers, front-end developers, videographers, researchers,
and managers as well as technical IT and programmer staff across RAND.
- Demonstrated knowledge
of at least one digital-asset-management (DAM) system.
- Typically possesses experience
with the Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
- Must possess strong
written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess solid analytical,
facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
- Must possess the ability to coordinate
multiple projects and adjust to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated strong
personal mastery and resilience, including ethics, interpersonal skills, and affinity
for continuous learning.
