Position Description

RAND is seeking a Managing Editor to supervise RAND’s editorial staff of 15 copyeditors and proofreaders. This position is also responsible for trafficking all editing and proofreading assignments, overseeing RAND’s editorial style, managing the budget of the editorial cost center, and helping to advance RAND’s outreach and other strategic priorities.


Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in English or related discipline; master’s degree preferred.


Minimum of 6 years of research editing experience and 3 years of supervisory experience in a publishing or communications environment

Security Clearance

U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance. An active Secret or interim Secret clearance is preferred.


Santa Monica or Washington, D.C.
