Once you have identified a position of interest, gather your attachments (see below).

Attachments may be in pdf, doc, docx, txt, rtf, htm, html, or ppt format. The first two attachments are required of all positions. The writing sample attachment is only required for research and analysis positions.

1. Cover letter. Put the position title at the top of your cover letter. Address the letter to RAND Staffing Office. In the cover letter, provide highlights of your relevant experience and a description of how your interests and skills compare with the job requirements and the RAND environment.

2. Resume or curriculum vitae.

3. Writing samples. See Writing Sample Guidelines for more information. The job description will indicate if writing samples are required for a particular job posting.

If your email address or other vital information changes after you submit your application, please login with your username and password. Under "My Career Tools" click "My Profile."

After We Receive Your Application

As soon as you click “Submit,” we’ll send you an immediate email confirmation. Reminder: Only complete applications (including all required attachments) are accepted.

Your complete application will then be forwarded to the appropriate reviewer, who will decide whether to go forward with your application or pass at this time. In either case, you'll be notified. The review process can be time-consuming, so please be patient.
